husky excursion in lapland

Experience the magic of the Lapland on an exclusive husky excursion in Sweden, where you’ll guide your own sled through pristine snowy landscapes and, if you’re lucky, witness the breathtaking Northern Lights. This isn’t just a ride—it’s a chance to connect with nature, bond with your team of sled dogs, and catch one of the most incredible light shows on Earth.

What you can expect from an husky excursion in lapland

A husky excursion is not like a typical winter holiday—it’s an adventure because:

  1. Drive Your Own Sled: On our husky excursions, you don’t just sit back—We believe that you get the most out of your trip if you drive the sled yourself and get a feeling of the power of our dogs in front of you. Learn what it means to be a musher!

  2. Stunning Arctic Scenery: You’ll travel through a variety of landscapes, including snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and open plains. The untouched beauty of Lapland is truly breathtaking, and you’ll feel a deep connection to nature as you glide through the snow.

  3. Small Group Experience: Our tours are designed for small groups of a maximum of 4 people, making the experience personal and allowing you to connect closely with your guide, fellow adventurers, and, of course, the dogs.

  4. Experience the Northern Lights: One of the highlights of any husky excursion in Lapland is the chance to see the Northern Lights. As night falls, you may be treated to the aurora borealis dancing across the sky, adding a magical element to your adventure.

  5. Learn the Basics of Sledding: “Dog sledding is so much more than just standing on the sled, it’s about being out there – only you and the dogs.” – Petter Karlsson. We want you to feel the same, that is why we teach you everything about the dogs and our sport. Every day you will become more confident with setting up your team.

  6. Immersive Outdoor Living: Our credo is “Back to roots.” During your husky excursion in Lapland, you’ll stay in cozy cabins without electricity or running water, providing a perfect chance to disconnect from the stresses of daily life. It’s all about simplicity—heating with a wood stove, fetching water, and enjoying the quiet surroundings. Many guests find that spending three days on the sled, immersed in the Arctic landscape, feels like therapy. The combination of nature, huskies, and the quiet rhythm of the trail offers a unique opportunity to reset and recharge away from the modern world.

Our 5 day tour - husky excursion in lapland

On our husky excursions in Lapland, each participant drives their own sled with a team of huskies. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your dogs and get outfitted with the necessary winter gear for your journey. After packing for the trip, you’ll relax with our guide and the group over a welcome dinner at the guesthouse, with the chance to unwind in a typical Swedish sauna.

The next morning, your guide will walk you through the basics of sled driving and how to harness the dogs. From there, it’s time to set off into the wilderness for your husky excursion in Lapland. You’ll navigate through snowy forests, across frozen lakes, and up gentle slopes, fully immersed in the tranquil Arctic landscape.

As night falls, keep your eyes on the sky—you might catch the Northern Lights dancing overhead. There’s nothing quite like seeing the aurora borealis paint the sky in greens and purples while you’re surrounded by the silent beauty of Lapland.

Can everybody do the husky excursion in lapland?

Yes, almost anyone can join a husky excursion in Lapland! You don’t need previous experience with sledding—just a reasonable level of fitness, a sense of adventure, and a willingness to work as part of a team. Our guides provide all the training and support you need to feel confident on the sled.

While driving a sled does require some physical effort—especially when helping the dogs on uphill sections—it’s manageable for most people who are in good health. If you are not sure, if your fitness level is enough, just contact us and we will find the best option for you together. You’ll need to be prepared to spend time outdoors in cold conditions, but our winter gear, including warm suits, boots, and gloves, will keep you comfortable.

If you love the outdoors, enjoy being around animals, and are eager to try something new, a husky excursion in Lapland is an experience you can absolutely enjoy!
